Miranda & Derek, April 11

I've spent a lot of time in the last few months with Miranda and Derek, and what a sweet couple they are! Our first session together: their engagement shoot. These shots were taken at their farm, and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful backdrop. We were in 4wd most of the time getting to the cool spots, but it was totally worth it. Check out the results!

Finally, the wedding! It was a perfect day with beautiful sunshine all afternoon. I had lots of fun playing with the sun flare:)

Heather and Chris were married on a beautiful Saturday in March at Whitestone Inn in Kingsport, Tennessee. I had the best time spending my afternoon with the two of them and their friends and family. The weather was perfect, the location gorgeous, and Heather and Chris wanted to try out one of the new features for 2009-The Photobooth! And now, drumroll pleeaasseee.....The Photobooth! This is not your traditional photobooth (no box with a curtain, doesn't spit out pictures) but just as fun-arguably more fun because you can fit much more fun onto the space than you can in one of those small booths. There are tons of articles and features online if you are interested in reading more about this growing trend. Heather said this was one of her favorite parts of her reception, and I think, from the looks of the photos below, her guests would agree!

I was laughing sooo hard when they made this face-I do this to my husband and kids all the time and they think it's hilarious.

After a relaxing "off-season," things have kicked into high gear within a matter of days. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed already, so I made the executive decision to get up early. Yesterday morning I was showered, drinking coffee, and editing early enough to watch the sunrise from my office window.

I decided to do a quick blog post, since I have had so many requests for sneak-peeks from the mini session weekend. I think I will do highlights from three sessions with each post until I have posted them all. That will give you 8 days of glorious photo goodness.

Concerning the mini-sessions, I can't say enough good things about how it all went down-everyone was on time, the weather was perfect, and the subjects were awesome. There will definitely be another session in the summer!

New Lifestyle Website and Mini-Session Dates!!!

There's no denying my lifestyle website has needed some lovin' for a while now. In fact, I think there were a few kids featured who have already started college; well, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but you get the picture. I have been working my little fingers to the bone to bring you a new, fresh lifestyle website with all new photos. I hope you enjoy browsing through.

While the majority of my work is wedding related, I do love lifestyle photography. I love meeting new families, capturing a teen's self-expression, and admiring the miracle of a fresh new baby. However, as Spring and Summer approach, my Saturdays are pretty much booked with weddings, which is great, but not so great for the families who can only meet on the weekends. Soooo, in honor of the website relaunch, I have decided to have a mini-session weekend March 7-8! What is a mini-session you ask? Keep reading to get all the juicy details!

What is a mini-session?

-A mini-session is 30 minutes of my undivided attention with my camera, you, your sweet family, cute kids, husband, wife, fiance, friends, or well, whomever you might like to have in your pictures.

When is it?

-Saturday, March 7th-8:30-5:00 and Sunday, March 8th-2:00-5:00

How much does it cost?

-$50, which can be paid on the day of the session. The session includes one 5x7 professional print, plus an online viewing gallery for one month. All prints, as well as a CD, will be available for purchase.

Where will the session take place?

-All sessions will be done at my home studio, rain or shine. If the weather permits, photos can be taken outside.

What are the rules?

-Be on time! The session will begin promptly at the time you have scheduled and will end exactly 30 minutes later. If you are late, you will miss precious photo time, so please-pack your bags the night before!

I can't make it that weekend, can I schedule a mini-session with you for another day?

-Sorry, but it's one weekend only. If you can't make it out March 7-8, I will be happy to schedule a regular session (standard cost is $200) at a time that is convenient for you. Rumor has it there might be another mini-session in the Fall...

I have a large family-can I schedule more than one session?

-Absolutely! You are free to book up to two sessions back to back. In fact, I would recommend doing this if you have a large family and would like individual photos of all your cute kids.

Winter's Day, Part 2

Since Stevie was in school the day I took Brady to the old house, she had her turn on Saturday. She brought along a bag for "treasures" that we might find, and she actually came home with some pretty cool stuff! We went to 4 different houses, and had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine.

Finally, a pic of my family during the Superbowl party at our house last night-personally, there's something inherently funny about a large group of people wearing 3-D glasses.

I spent a fabulous afternoon yesterday having lunch with some great photographer friends in Nashville. We had lunch at Whole Foods (yum!) then I had some headshots done by the ultra-talented Mary Crow. I can't wait to see how they turn out!!! I will be sure to post some as soon as I get them back. Ladies, it was awesome, and I can't wait 'til next month!

Yesterday inspired me to get out today and do some pics of my kids. Stevie was in school, so it will be her turn tomorrow, but here are a few of Brady and Jude. Maybe I'm a bit partial, but I do think my kids are some of the cutest I've seen around;)

Lucy Turns 1!

I can't believe Lucy is already one year old! I have been so lucky to document her 3, 6, 9, and 12 month photos. Lucy's mom is opening a new bakery/coffeehouse soon, so we will all have to go visit when it opens (if you have had Sweet Sallies cakes before, you know it will be fabulous).

We love The Discovery Channel at the Fitzpatrick house, and we are facinated by the show, "Time Warp". If you haven't had a chance to check it out, make time-it's awesome. Each episode films events like bubbles popping, a dog drinking water, and a punch in the face just to name a few, with high-speed cameras then slows them down to tens of thousands of frames per second. The result is nothing short of amazing and beautiful. I found this little clip on You Tube, but it really doesn't do the show justice. You can view entire episodes on www.discoverychannel.com or just catch it on Wednesday nights at 7.

Brandt is already 9 months old! I just love it when this little guy comes over for pictures-he's so cute!

Dogs will be dogs...

I'm questioning my decision to get an inside dog, right about now. We let Roxie out to go to the bathroom-we live in the country, so we don't put her on a leash. When she came back to the door, here's what I found. To answer your question, no, she doesn't have a black beard. That's dirt, and a lot of it. I'm not sure what she was looking for, but I hope she found it and I hope it was worth it, because she got in big trouble for this one.

I'm sure the groomer is going to talk about us after this one, although probably not as much as the time we brought her in with bubble gum in her fur. For whatever reason, when the girls were begging for a puppy, I thought a small girl dog would somehow be "neater" than a big boy one. However, after one year with this little gem, I have learned that's not necessarily the case. We all still love her though!!

Countdown to "LOST"

Only 15 more days 'till the season premiere of my favorite show, "LOST"! Oh, I can't wait! I love checking out the site, www.lost-theories.com. There are some serious fans out there! Stevie and I love the show and are so excited-John on the other hand says the show is aptly named for a reason and is excited he will be getting one hour of uninterrupted video game time for the next few Wednesdays. If you have a theory, I would love to hear it!

Bonnie Kate is already 6 months old-my, how time flies! She is every bit as adorable as she was the last time I took her photos, and I hear she has sprouted her first tooth since this session. So sweet!

Happy 2009!

I am finally back! After a long, relaxing Christmas break with my family, it's time to get back in business. Get ready for lots of new, entertaining posts! Let me start by sharing with you a few of the things that are currently putting a smile on my face:
1. This McDonald's commercial cracks me up EVERY time. I love the line, "girl you got a 10 piece so don't be stingaaayy."

2. Jude loves the lion on his bouncy seat. He talks to it all the time. He was finding it particularly funny the day I took these.

3. Facebook. Since I have become a member, I am totally addicted. I have created a "fan page" for Red Letter Days, so if you are on Facebook, be sure to visit me!

4. New music. I realize some of these songs aren't new, but they are all songs I am currently loving and listening to repeatedly.

1. "Lovebug"-The Jonas Brothers. This is my guilty pleasure, and I don't care if you laugh at me for listening to The Jonas Brothers.

2. Anything Kings of Leon. LOVE this band. Favorite song? "Use Somebody".

3. "The Wind"-Amos Lee.

5. Stage One Dance Studio. If you live in the area and you have children, you MUST consider checking out the dance program at Stage One. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the dance programs they have in place. Stevie had the opportunity to take a composition course this summer-she made her choreography debut last weekend at the January Choreography Showcase at the Backdoor Playhouse. Most of the pieces were choreographed by the students and I was so impressed with their creativity and talent.I will share some photos when I have them finished.

On to pictures!

Katy and Scott were married on November 8th at Johnson's Chapel with a beautiful, intimate reception at Mere Bulles. Their wedding was only two short weeks after Jude was born, and it was so nice to spend my first night back at work with such a sweet family. Thanks again, Katy and Scott, for such a fun evening!

15 days Till Christmas!!!

Only 15 more days-woo hoo!! I have done ALL of my Christmas shopping online this year, with the exception of two Sham-Wow cloths I picked up at Opry Mills as a joke, and the dog ate those so I guess they don't technically count anymore.

Speaking of the dog eating things, anyone have any suggestions on how to make her stop chewing up everything? Roxie was the girls' Christmas gift last year from Santa-she's a super cute white maltipoo, but since she joined the family, she has managed to chew up the baseboards, the corners of furniture, clothing that's left on the floor, one dog bed (that one was pretty funny-we came home and she had torn a hole in it, removed all the stuffing, and climbed inside), numerous packs of gum that she sniffs out of Stevie's backpack, and a check for $50 from John's grandmother. I'm sure if I thought for a minute, I could list others, but you get the picture. Roxie goes through rawhides like Jude goes through diapers. Seriously though, she's not a puppy anymore!!

Back to Christmas, I can't wait! Today I plan to make my battery list (a necessity-opening a cool gift and not having batteries would be a tragedy!) and get everything wrapped. However, that's been my plan for the last 4 days, so we'll see!

I almost forgot to post one of my most favorite images to date! This one was taken at Anne and Jon's wedding (see their pics below). Dad was praying and this little guy was trying so hard to be good.

Motherhood x 3

What was I thinking telling you all that I would blog every day until I was caught up??? Most everyone I know who has three children warned me this one would get me, but I had no idea. Since my new little man arrived, I have had no more than three consecutive hours of sleep. He has baby acid reflux, which loosely translates to-he spits up alot-and I mean ALOT. We both change clothes at least three times a day, and since I am wearing more outfits in one 8 hour stretch than most supermodels, I feel I have an excuse for not posting more than I have:) I hope to take some new pics of Jude and the girls over Thanksgiving break-he's so darn cute, even if he does spit up and keep me awake.

Erin & Jeremy, October 11, Hendersonville

You may remember Erin & Jeremy's awesome engagement session from a few months ago. They had a beautiful wedding in October and I was so glad to be a part of it. The weather was perfect, and a good time was had by all.

Erin created her own bouquet, and it looked fabulous!

I think this might be my favorite shot of the day. The officiant pronounced the couple "man and wife," but forgot the most important words of all, "you may kiss the bride"! Erin had just politely asked him if she could kiss her new husband when I snapped this shot.

You may remember Bonnie Kate from a few months ago. I did her photos at six days old, and she's 3 months now and cuter than ever!

I also had the pleasure of photographing the Anderson family. I went to high school with Mom and Dad, so it was awesome to meet up with them again along with their two beautiful daughters.

I almost forgot to post Halloween highlights! Brady was a jellyfish, complete with lights for a bio luminescent effect.

And Stevie was a tornado-she won "best overall costume" at her school's costume contest!

Jude went as a newborn baby this year, but we will definitely dress him up next year!

Amy & Lincoln

Amy and Lincoln were married on October 4th at Lakeside. I just love these two! You can look back through the archives to see their awesome engagement photos-such a sweet couple. One of my favorite details of the whole day was Amy's wedding band (check out the photo below). She had no idea what her band looked like; Lincoln wanted to surprise her with something special. When the minister called for the exchanging of the rings, and explained Lincoln's choice in wedding bands, I became a teary-eyed mess! Becca was totally cracking up at me. Lincoln was inspired by what I consider to be one of the most beautiful passages in the Bible, Proverbs 31. The minister read this passage, then Lincoln presented Amy with a beautiful diamond and ruby wedding band.

My Cup Runneth Over...

Say "hello" to the new man in my life. John Jude Fitzpatrick made his debut on Monday morning at 11:30. He is 8 pounds and 10 ounces of pure perfection. As most of you know, this is our third child-but it always amazes me how, before they are born, you can't imagine what life will be like with them, and after they arrive, how you can't imagine your life without them. I am so thankful for all I have been blessed with, and I can't wait for you all to meet him!

Check back daily for posts of all I didn't get to show you before he arrived. I will be posting images every day until I am caught up! And this weekend, I am off to Nashville to shoot Katy and Scott's wedding. This will be John's first experience flying solo-oh, to be a fly on the wall!

Hiliary & Todd

Hiliary and Todd were married on September 27th, and I must say, they are one of the sweetest couples I have had the pleasure of working with. There was such a peacefulness about this day, and I know these two have a wonderful life in front of them.

If you haven't been to the website lately, I just added a few new pics and some new tunes-I must thank Hiliary for the song selections!

So the story goes, Hiliary and her friends started a tradition of putting a beta fish in the car with the bride and groom. Here's Hiliary with her new pet! I think this is hilarious!

I have sooo many pictures to post, but I just haven't had the time to pick my favorites from all the sessions I have done recently. I promise I will TRY to post as much as I can before Jude arrives. Brady counts everything in terms of "sleeps" and it's only 11 more "sleeps" until the big day! Next week is catch up week, so I should have some new things to show you before delivery day!

Elizabeth & Derrick

I am heading to Belle Meade today to shoot Elizabeth's bridal portraits. She and Derrick were married on September 26th, but Elizabeth wanted to wait until after the wedding to do the portrait, which I think is a great idea! I know we are going to have a great time during the session.

Their wedding was fabulous, and I am so honored Elizabeth and Derrick chose me to capture their special day. The ceremony was held at Wightman Chapel at Scarritt-Bennett, and the reception was held at Belle Meade Plantation. The day was orchestrated beautifully by Rachel and her team at Something Blue. The flowers and decor were done by the incomparable Mitchell White. Check out some of the beautiful highlights!

The guys were in a heated game of blackjack while waiting for the ceremony to start.

Elizabeth was nothing short of stunning. She just glowed the whole night!

Blog Break

I apologize for the two week hiatus I took from blogging! Things are so busy right now trying to keep everything up-to-date before baby Jude arrives. I can't even express in words how anxious I am to have this baby! For those readers who are mothers, you can probably remember all too well how these last few weeks are. I think I should have purchased some stock in Tums...

So much has happened in the last two weeks! Elizabeth and Derrick were married, along with Hiliary and Todd and Amy and Lincoln. Congratulations to all of you! I will be posting highlights from these weddings later this week. Since school kids are out on fall break, my week has been loaded with lifestyle sessions, so I will be posting highlights from those later this week as well. But on the personal side of things, and for my first series of photos, Brady got a haircut! Check out her cuteness!

Just sitting here, enjoying my morning cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal. I am almost finished with Klar and Jim's wedding photos from last weekend, and I thought I would take a minute to post a few of the awesome images from Scott and Tausha's engagement session I did last week. I love these two, and I can't wait to photograph their wedding next year!

LOVED this shot-Scott just got this new car, and the two wanted to incorporate it into a few of their photos. I was diggin' the results!

Today's post is long overdue! I realize I have been promising to post images from Amber and Mark's engagement session and Brandt's six month pictures for two weeks now! Because I have 5 weeks until we induce delivery of Jude and 5 weddings to go, I have been desperately trying to keep everything up-to-date. So far, I'm doing great in every area EXCEPT the blog, so today's post will be ginormous, but there's so much I need to share with you!

First up, Amber and Mark!

I will be photographing Amber and Mark's wedding next August-Amber is super efficient and booked me in 2007. I know every detail of the wedding will be spectacular! Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session.

Next, big boy Brandt! You might remember Brandt from a previous post-I did his 3 month pictures, well, three months ago! He was back again for his six month session, looking cuter than ever. He's such an adorable baby!

Janetta and Jacob were married on September 6th in Livingston. Jacob's mom, Carol, is one of the masterminds behind Talk of the Town Catering, so I knew the food would be fabulous. Mitchell White worked his magic with the decor, and it turned out to be a perfect evening! Janetta is one of the sweetest, most relaxed brides I have had the pleasure to work with, and I wish her and Jacob the best of luck in their new life together!

This weekend is going to be CRAZY!! I will be traveling to Nashville on Friday to photograph Elizabeth and Derrick's wedding, then photographing Hiliary and Todd's wedding on Saturday. To top it all off, Stevie turns 11 on Sunday! I will try to post highlights from Tausha and Scott's awesome engagement session later this week, along with highlights from Klar and Jim's wedding last weekend.

For those of you who want to do the countdown to baby Jude with me, I have 33 more days, unless he decides to come sooner. Woo hoo!!!

I am totally addicted to Fox's new show, "Fringe". J.J. Abrams, one of the co-creators of my absolute favorite show, "Lost" is one of the creators of "Fringe" and it totally rocks. What a fun weekend! Brady celebrated her 5th birthday on Friday night with a Pixie Party. She had so much fun with her friends! We had been planning for the party for about a month, so she was super excited when everything finally came to fruition. Check out a few of my favorite moments!

Brady's only job for the evening was to make sure everyone had on bug spray. She took this job VERY seriously and made sure all her guests were protected from head to toe.

Amanda and Kip were married on August 23rd at Scarritt Bennett. I loved everything about this day-the venue, the details, and most of all the couple and their families. Amanda and Kip had a beautiful ceremony and reception, then were off to Italy for their honeymoon. Amanda and Kip, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this day!

And as promised....drum roll please....Tuesday's Addictions! Below you will find this week's list of things I find highly addictive or simply cannot live without. 1. Chicken Broccoli Alfredo: We have this at our house at least twice a month. Everyone loves it. Warning, it makes a huge mess in the kitchen and is a far cry from healthy, but boy does it taste yummy!
Recipe:
Ingredients-cubed boneless chicken, Italian breading, canola oil, fettuccine noodles, small container heavy cream,
one stick of butter, 2 bags fresh Parmesan cheese, frozen broccoli, salt and pepper to taste.

-toss chicken in Italian breading and fry in oil
-prepare noodles as directed and drain
-over low heat, melt butter. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook until cheese begins to melt.
-prepare broccoli as directed and drain
-Serve by topping noodles with chicken, broccoli, and finally the sauce

2. Votivo "Deep Clover" Candles: I think I like this one so much because it kinda reminds me of cut grass.

3. Poet's Vanilla Chai: Starbuck's vanilla chai can't even compare. As soon as there is a mere mention of the weather getting cooler, I line up almost every day for one of these tasty treats. In fact, I think I'll get one today!

I meant to post images from Shaina and Joey's wedding last week, but I have been super busy! I had so much fun and their wedding, and they are such a fun couple! Get this-as soon as the two left their reception, Shaina and Joey went to the Titans game! Now that, ladies, is dedication.

Shaina's son Jaedyn is absolutely adorable. I first met him when I did their engagement photos, and I immediately fell in love. One of my favorite elements of the whole day was the fact that Jaedyn was also given a ring during the ceremony. Here's a shot of him checking it out.

Jaedyn really wanted to hold the flower girl's hand, but she clearly wanted no part of it.

I must share this with you! I was hard at work yesterday afternoon editing photos. I was slightly aware that Brady hadn't needed my attention for quite some time, and that there was a rhythmic thumping sound coming from the hall, but it was one of those moments I was so absorbed in what I was doing, it didn't initially register with me. When I finally decided to investigate, here's what I found:

Yep-that's Brady, in the dog's bed, sliding down the stairs. She said she was going for a "gondola ride". Just in case you are curious about her outfit, she is in her customary afternoon attire-a leotard. Sometimes this leotard is accompanied by a tutu, but more often than not, it's just the leotard. Seriously, can life be any more entertaining than this? I love that kids can create fun for themselves and find so much enjoyment in little things. This went on for at least an hour, and if I weren't pregnant, I can't promise I wouldn't have given it a try.

I had a wonderful time this weekend with Amanda and Kip! They had a beautiful ceremony and reception and Scarritt-Bennett, and I was so glad I had the opportunity to work with them. I also had the privilege of meeting Miss Alex last week-what a firecracker! I had so much fun doing her photos. Alex's mom is one of the owners of one of my favorite places to shop in Cookeville-Sugar! In fact, I think I might stop by there later and see what's new:)

Concert Recovery

We went to the Bruce Springsteen concert last night, which was awesome! However, I think I might have aged a bit overnight. I like to contribute both my mental and physical states this morning to the fact that I am pregnant, not older than I used to be, but I think they both might be contributing factors. At one point last night, (oh, I'm ashamed to say this) I ALMOST put my fingers in my ears-and to think, 15 years ago I actually managed to get on stage with Pearl Jam.

Stevie had a great time at the concert (see photo below) and I was so glad her first concert experience was a rock legend like Bruce, and not a cheesy Disney group, although the new Jonas Brothers song has become my guilty pleasure. Jude also seemed to enjoy the concert in utero, since he kicked and rolled all night-another reason I might be feeling a bit under the weather this morning. I'm definitely feeling a nap coming on...

Stevie's shirt was a custom creation by my good friend Rebekah at Burp.

On to pictures! I did Kacee and James David's engagement photos last week at the lake. I love this location! They were so much fun and I can't wait to photograph their wedding next year.

I will be traveling to Nashville tomorrow to shoot Amanda and Kip's wedding at Scarritt-Bennett. I have already done Amanda's bridal portraits, and they were fabulous, so I will definitely be posting lots of new photos soon!

I realize it has been 10 days since my last post-I didn't realize so many people read the blog! I have received lots of emails requesting updates, and I can't thank all of you enough for taking the time to check out what's going on with Red Letter Days. I do have an excuse though!

Jude is expected to arrive some time near the end of October-what else happens near the end of October? Halloween! Also, Stevie and Brady both have September birthdays, so I decided it wise to work ahead and take care of those things before Jude gets here, otherwise, both the girls will be trick-or-treating as ghosts and Pop-Tarts will be served at their birthday parties. I have always made their Halloween costumes-I take that back, I have the ideas and my mom makes the costumes. Two years ago was my first attempt at actually sewing the costumes myself-Brady was Little Red Riding Hood and Stevie was the wolf dressed as Grandma. Last year, my sewing skills improved, and Brady went as a fancy witch, and Stevie as Medusa. And this year, I must say, takes the cake-Brady will be a jellyfish and Stevie is going as a tornado. I can't wait to show you the pictures! So, over the last few days, I have completed two Halloween costumes, and I am almost finished planning Brady's 5th birthday. Now that I feel I little bit better about the near future, I can take a few minutes to post some recent events!

Kelli and Justin were married on August 2nd at the Summit. Dave Matlock did a fabulous job orchestrating the whole day, and all the details were beautiful.

Life Lesson # 321: Don't let your child get a henna tattoo while in a foreign country

So Brady and I were in the car on our way to Wiggle Time, our favorite hangout spot, when she announced that her arm was itching. I turned to see a perfect rash along the outline of the giant peacock henna tattoo she had to have while we were in Mexico. Mind you, this tattoo was painted on almost 10 days ago, but since Brady has been known to have an allergic reaction to various detergents, lipglosses, and an assortment of other items, I wasn't totally surprised to see the rash. We made a pit stop at the pharmacy to pick up some cream, only to hear a story from the pharmacist about a buddy of his that had this same type of reaction to a henna tattoo-FOUR YEARS LATER, the tattoo finally went away-I was mortified!! Seriously, if this doesn't go away, the possibility that I might have to home school our youngest daughter is not out of the question. After all, it does clearly state in the Putnam County Dress Code that students are to have no visible tattoos, and at the moment, Brady has an elaborate peacock on her arm. Let's all say a little prayer tonight that the cream clears this little problem up. I know it's one of those things I will probably laugh about in years to come, but for the moment, I am having a bit of difficulty coping.

Now, on to pictures! Mary and Nathan were married at Lakeside Resort on June 28th-this was a super rainy day, and we all thought we would be having an indoor wedding. The rain cleared just before we started the photos, and stayed away for the rest of the evening! Everyone, including myself, had a blast at their wedding. I could literally post hundreds of pictures from this wedding, but here are my favorites of my favorites!

Mary didn't originally have anyone to carry her train, but because of the rain, this little guy stepped up to help her out. He took his new job very seriously.

Home Sweet Home

After 8 days of R&R in beautiful Cabo San Lucas, it's so nice to be back home. We returned late Monday night, and I finally have all our laundry done. I don't have tons of vacation photos to share with you-I have found that I have much more fun if I just leave my camera in the room! If I have it with me, I don't even take the opportunity to enjoy what I am experiencing, because I am too busy taking photos. Stevie took most of our photos this vacation, and as soon as I get her card from her, I will post more. Until then, here's one of my favorites taken the first day.

When planning our vacations, I always choose a resort that is away from all the hustle and bustle of a tourist town. We stayed on the opposite side of the peninsula-away from all the commotion. For those of you who have seen Disney's "Madagascar", we called the busy side the "fossa" side-it drives me mad when I can't walk down the beach without someone offering to braid my hair, give me a henna tattoo, and sell me a handwoven basket all at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I like having access to those things, and for that reason, we spent a little bit more on taxis into town, but being able to take a quiet walk on the beach makes it totally worth it for me. There was NO ONE on the beach when I took this shot. The waves in Cabo were some of the most spectacular waves I have ever seen. You could stand yards away and feel the force behind each one. We literally spent hours over the course of the trip just watching them, in awe.

I did Lori's bridal session in Nashville a month ago, but couldn't post until after the wedding. Lori looked absolutely beautiful, even though the wind was trying to whip off her veil.

Big brother Walker and little-brother-to-be Anden-I love this family! I have known mom and dad for a long time, and it has been so great to watch Walker grow up. I can't wait until baby brother arrives!

John and I celebrate 8 years of marriage today! We don't really have anything planned, since we are going to Cabo next week, but I thought I would share my "anniversary" playlist. "The Beautiful Ones"-Prince: John took me to see Prince for our 3 year anniversary. I just assumed "Purple Rain" would be my favorite performance, but he totally rocked it out on this song. Loved it ever since!!

I just love it when I get to know a couple before I actually photograph their wedding. I met them first when I did their engagement session at our county fair, then I did Aspen's bridal portraits, so Aspen was like an old friend by the time the wedding rolled around. Aspen and Jeremy are so sweet together, and I am so glad I was able to be a part of their day. The rain held off, and the clouds made for a perfectly comfortable evening. I have known Erin and Jeremy for a few years, and they are such a great couple. I am so excited they have asked me to do their wedding photography later this year.

They brought along Molly, their dog, for a few shots.

I'm a bit of a movie junkie-if there's anything that looks remotely entertaining, we go. As mentioned a few posts ago, I was uber excited about seeing "The Happening". It was a TOTAL letdown. One of the things I love most about Shyamlan's movies is the "big surprise" at the end. No big surprise in this one, and it wasn't really all that suspenseful. This weekend, I saw two movies: "Get Smart" and "Wall-E". If you have kids, heck, even if you don't have kids, you must check out "Wall-E". It was super cute. "Get Smart" was pretty funny, but I could have saved it for Blockbuster and been just as satisfied.

So I have been a total blog slacker for the last two weeks. Too much happenin'!!! Countdown to VC has definitely begun. Let me just share with you what has happened already today:

6:00-wake up, make coffee, begin editing. I have found from 6:00 until 7:00 is the most quiet time at my house. Everyone is still sleeping, and I take advantage of it. I almost have Aspen and Jeremy's wedding finished-yeah!!!
7:00-wake the girls, have breakfast, get girls ready for swimming lessons:)
9:00-10:00-swimming lessons. I also take advantage of this time and do some more editing-we're getting closer, Aspen and Jeremy!!
10:30-ultrasound appointment-it is definitely a boy-woop woop!! Baby Jude will join this wide world near the end of October. Check out his cuteness!!

12:00-leave doctor's office-finally, and rush home to wash out the chlorine. Lunch: leftover southwest salad for me, grilled cheeses for the girls
1:00-acknowledge the fact that I have failed to blog in two weeks, update, then get back to Aspen and Jeremy's pics. I will finish these today!!

John turns 30 on the 18th, and to celebrate, the girls and I made him a "30 Days to 30" birthday box. Every day for the last month he has been picking a prize from the box. He's totally racked up on the gifts. For his gift tomorrow, he and I are going to see "The Happening," and I can't wait!!! I love anything Shyamalan-everything he's every done has completely scared my pants off, I can't imagine what this one's gonna do to me. I'll let you know all about it on Monday!

Annemarie and Michael came out from Murfreesboro a few days ago for their engagement session. We did them at a new cool location I spotted one day while running errands. It's top secret! I think the photos turned out awesome! Thanks again, you two.

Pretty stoked about "So You Think You Can Dance" tonight-2 hours of dancin'! Stevie and I LOVE this show. If you watch, send me some comments on your favs-I'm thinking Kourtni is gonna be at the top of my list. If you haven't watched this show before, you must tune in to Fox tonight at 7:00.

Sarah & Aaron, May 24

What a beautiful wedding! There were so many details about this day that I just loved. Sarah and Aaron were married at Fillauer Lake House in Cleveland, a new favorite spot for me! It was a bit of a drive (2 1/2 hours) but totally worth it. So, without further delay, the highlights!!

As Sarah was having her makeup done, I spotted this tube of mascara. I had to grab Sarah's ring for a quick shot!

Okay, how cute is this? Sarah was being Cinderella and her sweet little flower girls were trying on the shoe. I love the anticipation in her eyes!

I met Amy and Lincoln a few days ago in Nashville for their engagement session. I will be photographing their wedding later this year in Cookeville, but since their first date was in Nashville, and Lincoln proposed in Nashville, it was only fitting we do some photos there!

Brittney & Karl

Brittney and Karl were married on May 17th at Lakeside Resort. They are a super sweet couple, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with them and meet their wonderful friends and family. The day was so relaxed-I was able to take out some of those lenses I never use and play around a bit! Here are the highlights.

I have been anxiously waiting to post highlights from Sarah's bridal session! Sarah and Aaron were married last weekend, so I can finally show them to you. The session was done at the venue where the two of them were married- the Fillauer Lake House in Cleveland. I fell in love with this site; it's absolutely gorgeous. Taylor and Michael were married on May 10th in Columbia. It was so awesome to work with the two of them again. Taylor and Michael are the brave couple in the water, featured in the engagement gallery on the website. They are so much fun, and the reception was a blast! The highlight of the evening was when Taylor and her bridesmaids performed Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer". You know I'm a sucker for live music!!! I did Kelli & Justin's engagement photos a few days ago. It was a yucky, cold day, but they were such troopers! We did most of the photos around the Depot area, which is always a great spot. Megan & Matthew

Megan and Matthew were married last Saturday at the beautiful, historic Hallehurst in Pulaski. I have had so much fun getting to know Megan and Matthew-they are so in love, and I know they are going to have a wonderful life together. They both worked very hard on the wedding-I loved all the little details of the day, right down to the smores station. Megan and Matthew, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this day, and I wish you the best of luck in your new life together.

Gerbera daisies are one of my favorite flowers. These were so pretty, and went perfectly with the decor.

The weather was beautiful, though very windy! The wind calmed just before the ceremony began.

Megan looked absolutely stunning. I love these shots of her just before the ceremony.

I think these shots were some of my favorites from the whole day. I don't know exactly what this little flower was upset about, but she was definitely not happy. Having two girls of my own, I can fully appreciate the power of that pouty lip!

So the story goes: Matthew had joked to Megan, during their planning, he wanted to have Krystal burgers at the reception. As a gift to Matthew, Megan had a friend pick up 40 Krystal burgers just for him. He was so excited (and surprised) to see his requested menu item! It was a huge hit-who doesn't love a Krystal burger???

As another surprise, Megan wrote and performed a beautiful song for Matthew as a wedding gift. She brought tears to everyone's eyes.

Coolest Mother's Day Gift-EVER!

I don't know what some of you other Moms out there got for Mother's Day, but I was sooo excited to receive American Idol Karaoke Revolution for the XBox! Stevie, our 10 year old, and I sang until 10:00 last night. If you haven't seen this game, and you love music and love to sing (you don't have to sing well, just in tune) then you must check out this game. It's a good thing we live in the woods and have no neighbors, because if there had been anyone within a 5 mile radius, I'm pretty sure they would have heard me belting out "Sister Christian" and "Glamorous" at the top of my lungs. If I can figure out how to put video on the blog, I will post one of my fine performances. Simon says I'm what this competition is all about-ha!!! We have been laughing at the number of people who will probably really audition based on the comments given by the judges on the game, but rest assured-even though I did receive a perfect score on "Copacabana" I don't think I'll be lining up for the auditions any time soon.

So I'm driving to Columbia today for Taylor and Michael's wedding-this is the brave couple who embraced my idea of getting in the water for their engagement photos! I am so excited to work with them again. The church and reception venue are awesome, and I know the wedding will be fabulous!

Meet my cousin Scout! She and her Mommy and Daddy come over once a year for family portraits. I always have so much fun doing them. This time, Brady (my four year old) was home for the session, so I had a little bit of competition. Playing with cousin Brady sounded like more fun than having pictures taken, but I was so pleased with the results. I found it really difficult to choose my favorites!

I met Misty and Chris for the first time when I did their engagement photos. They reside in Michigan, but were married in Monterey at The Garden Inn. It was nice to be able to spend some time with them before the wedding. They are such an awesome couple and they have a great sense of humor. I had so much fun doing their engagement and wedding photos. Here are some highlights from the engagement session, as well as some of my favorites from the wedding.

I loved this "getting ready" shot.

Chris had one of the coolest wedding bands I have ever seen. It had Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" printed around the entire band.

I have driven to Nashville 5 times in the last two weeks for sessions, and this weekend, I drove to Pulaski for a wedding (Megan and Matthew-it was a beautiful ceremony, and I can't wait to start working on your photos!) I have done so many sessions in the last few days, I have found it difficult to find time to post any of the images! This is a great time of year for family, engagement, and bridal sessions, and I have been a busy bee. For those of you who check the blog often, there are a couple of sessions I have done recently that I so wish I could show you! Aspen and Sarah, your bridal portraits are fabulous, and I can't wait to show them to everyone. Alyssa and Ryan will be getting married in June, and I can't wait for their wedding! They are so cute together, and Apollo, their dog, is almost as cute as they are. The two were high school sweethearts-Ryan now serves our country as a US Marine, and Alyssa will soon graduate with a degree in biochemistry. Julie and Pat were married last weekend at Brown Acres in Altamont. The ceremony was just beautiful, and I was so honored to have been photographing. I met with Megan and Matthew last week to take their engagement photos. I will be photographing their wedding in May in Pulaski, Tennessee. We started the session at my home studio, then ventured out to an open field near my home. We also did some at the movie theatre-one of their favorite date spots. They are so relaxed and comfortable with each other, and that really shows in their photos. I know they are going to have a long, happy marriage, and I wish them the best of luck!

I'm Back!!!

I thought I would be diligent and blog every day-at least that's what I thought. As it turns out,I'm not so great at making myself sit down and take the time to do it. I was blessed with such a busy schedule, blogging was the last thing on my list of daily activities, and since August, it has been pushed to the side. My New Year's resolution, (along with keeping my checkbook balanced) was to blog at least once a week. So I missed the first two weeks in January-no one's perfect.

Big things happenin' with Red Letter Days Photography! For the wonderful families and children I have photographed over the past few years, be sure to visit the site regularly. I have TONS of new boutique products on their way to showcase your beautiful babies. Everything will be available by March-just in time for Spring photo sessions. My new home studio is finally complete, and I plan to have several themed session days this Spring where you can get in on some really cool photo sessions. Be sure to check the site-you're gonna love this stuff!!!!

Tonya's Bridal Session

I met Tonya in July for her bridal session. We had SOOO much fun-Tonya is completely relaxed in front of the camera, and she was totally game for all my crazy ideas. The only bad thing was, the photos were awesome, and I couldn't post any of them until after the wedding! Tonya and Michael were married last weekend, so finally, I can share her photos with everyone! Tonya's dress is from the oh-so-fabulous White Room in Lebanon. We started out at the Belle Meade Plantation, then headed downtown for the fun stuff-we stopped all along the way-Tootsies, The Schermerhorn we even made a stop for a quick dance on the bar at Coyote Ugly! I can't wait to share their wedding photos with you!

Here it is! my very first blog! I am so excited to share with everyone what a fabulous job I have. I started my career as a photographer only four short years ago, and during that time I have met some of the most wonderful people.
